This is our new bi-monthly newsletter reaching out to our customers with some useful, helpful, funny tips. I will be covering things that come up in everyday situations that I feel will be useful to all of you.
The first thing I would like to go over is the rather bothersome increase in scams that have been going around. The most recent scams have been the fake emails from, Amazon, Norton’s, Target, etc. These basically tell you that your card was recently charged for “insert random item or subscription here” and that if it was in error to call a number. They then proceed to try to get access to your PC and do whatever they can. The best option for anything like this is to ignore the email and call the company using their website. In no instance of you getting a refund should someone need to access your PC.
When in doubt call me! I can not stress enough how important it is to be EXTREMELY paranoid when it comes to strange phone calls or emails.
Over the past year, Internet scammers have cost US taxpayers $9.5 BILLION! So far over the pandemic, this number is up 56% from previous years.
If you think you may have let a scammer in please let us know. They normally set themselves up to be able to get into your computer more than once. If you notice the screen going black, or the mouse moving strangely please call us. We can check to make sure these methods of intrusion are removed.
Lastly, I want to remind everyone to reboot their PC at least once a week to install any updates that may be waiting.
And I will end with a joke, this way if you do not want to read anything I have typed out you can skip right to the joke.
Thank you!
Joke:
Do not use “beef stew” as a computer password. It’s not stroganoff.
